Craig Dykers, architect and project director of Snöhetta was born in Germany, son of an English mother, Mexican father, raised in Texas, having his largest project in Egypt, and now living in Oslo since many years. Snøhetta has emerged as one of the most promising young architectural offices in Norway. In winning the competition for a new library in Alexandria, Egypt, more than ten years ago, not only did they get a head-start, they also reinvigorated the status of Norwegian design on the international architectural scene. Recently they have succeeded again, this time for their design of the new Opera in Oslo.

Having a strong interest in the visual arts, Craig Dykers began his career as an editorial illustrator and has continued to maintain the notion of exposing ideas, in the broadest sense, and illustrating his interpretations through architecture. Craig began his career in Texas before moving to California in 1985. He is a founding partner of the architecture, landscape and interior company Snøhetta since moving to Norway in 1989. Craig has been involved in the design of several major projects in the Middle East, Europe, and the United States including his role as co-designer for the new National Library in Alexandria, Egypt, the National Opera in Oslo, Norway and Designer for the Norwegian Embassy in Berlin. Active professionally and academically, Craig has been a member of the Norwegian Architecture Association (NAL) and served as Diploma Adjudicator at the Architectural College in Oslo.
