Francis Nordemann, France
Francis Nordemann has run his personal professional practice since 1981. His practice is built upon a diverse knowledge-base, acquired through public and private commissions, design competitions, teaching experience in both Europe and the U.S. and the organization of international symposia on issues related to contemporary architecture and urbanism.

Nordemann focuses on urban issues and he is responsible for the construction of 200 units of social housing within an urban design project in Lyons, France, community facilities and cultural centre in Paris, hospital facilities, public parking and urban projects in France, Italy and The United States. He specifically concentrates his research on buildings for automobiles and relationships between cars and cities.
He trained as an architect at the Unité Pédagogique de Nancy and at the Unité Pédagogique N°6 in Paris. He received a D.P.L.G. diploma in1978, and in 1983 he was awarded “The Villa Medicis out of the walls” prize.
Francis Nordemann has been a visiting professor at the University of Kentucky, adj. associate prof. at Columbia University in the City of New York, visiting critic at the University of Pennsylvania, Maître assistant des Ecoles d’Architecture à l’Ecole de Lyon from 1988 to 1993 and puis à l’Ecole de Normandie from 1993 to 1997. He was appointed Head (directeur) of the Ecole d’Architecture de Normandie by the French Minister of Culture in 1997. Currently, he is teaching at the Ecole d'Architecture de Paris Belleville.
Francis Nordemann is the vice president of the European Association for Architectural Education (EAAE). EAAE is an international non-profit association committed to the exchange of ideas and people within the field of architectural education and research. EAAE aims at improving the knowledge base and the quality of architectural and urban design education. EAAE counts more than 100 active member schools in Europe from the Canary Islands to the Urals, representing almost 5,000 tenured faculty members and more than 100,000 students of architecture from the undergraduate to the doctoral level.
Francis Nordemann serves as the representative of EAAE on the jury.
